Dental x-ray

Comprehensive Exams, X-rays and

Dental Education

  • We offer a variety of different x-rays to help diagnose and treat dental pain or cavities. When an x-ray is taken, we compare them with existing x-rays to monitor any change in your teeth or bone health.

  • We will not lecture you on your oral health. The reason we ask about your brushing/flossing habits, is because we care about you and your health. We are here to help inform you of ways to improve your at-home brushing/flossing habits as well as provide nutrition counseling.

  • Caries – aka cavities – is the number one chronic disease in the United States. Research shows that those who suffer from gum disease are twice as likely to develop coronary artery disease. Additionally, poor oral health has been linked to heart disease, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and stroke.

Oral Cancer Screenings

  • Approximately 132 individuals will be newly diagnosed with oral cancer every day. The sooner the diagnosis, the better the chance a person has at fighting oral cancer.

  • During every cleaning and dental exam we perform an oral cancer screening the to maximize the care given to our patients.

  • Please visit www.oralcancerfoundation.org for more information.

Simple and Complex Restorations

(aka Dental Fillings)

  • If a cavity is diagnosed early enough, then it can be treated without the use of drilling. We can attempt to halt the cavity process where it stands and put minerals back into the tooth.

  • If a cavity is too deep into the tooth, then we must remove the cavity and replace it with a dental filling.

  • We offer both white and silver fillings for your personal preference.

Crowns, Bridges and Implant Crowns

  • Crown: A crown is a "cap" that goes over your tooth to protect it. We use crowns on root canal treated teeth, as well as teeth that had severe decay and a very large filling was contra-indicated. A crown has been proven to extend the life of the tooth versus a very large filling.

  • Bridge: When a tooth or teeth are missing, a bridge replaces those teeth by connecting the teeth around it. Imagine two crowns connected by another crown in between.

  • Implant: An implant is a titanium rod that replaces an extracted tooth. Once the implant is placed, it takes roughly 3-6 months for the implant to fully be accepted by the body and integrate with the bone. Afterwards, we restore the implant with an abutment and a crown to replace the missing tooth.
